Amblecote History Society

At the last meeting of a memorable year Geoff Longmore welcomed members to a social evening, giving a brief update on forthcoming events planned for 2017 before handing over to Lance Cartwright to conduct a festive, historical quiz which involved a large element of fun. Over a glass of wine, assorted nibbles and mince pies the Society’s brains were tested over 30 questions with “The Gnomes” ladies team winning the star prize.

Following the quiz a couple of DVD’s were shown which captivated the audience as it took them down memory lane to the construction of the Stourbridge Ring Road and the Ryemarket shopping centre. It’s amazing how Stourbridge looked not so long ago as well as the clothes we wore and the cars we drove.

The evening concluded after the drawing of the raffle with a large number of prizes being awarded - Christmas came early for many!

Geoff Longmore, concluded the evening by thanking the Committee members for their support in 2016, reminding everyone that the first meeting of 2017 would be the AGM followed by a light-hearted talk by Dave Berry sharing experiences of "A Day in Court".
