STOURBRIDGE Cricket Club have entered their 175th anniversary season with a new name on everyone’s lips – or at least their shirts – with the signing of the club’s main sponsor.

After gathering for an entire club photo to commemorate the milestone year, the club unveiled its brand-new shirts emblazoned with the logo of West Midland cleaning firm We Clean Limited.

Stourbridge CC chairman Harilal Jivan-Patel said he was delighted the company wanted to commit to a three-year sponsorship arrangement.

Mr Jivan-Patel said: “We are extremely grateful to We Clean Limited for the support and commitment the company has shown towards Stourbridge Cricket Club.

“Stourbridge CC is proud of its history which has touched county, national and international cricketers. What we have in common with ‘We Clean’ is the passion to achieve excellence in everything we do.

“This valuable partnership is helping the club to revive its proud history in developing young local cricketers.”

'We Clean' directors Paul Concannon and David Harker said Stourbridge’s emphasis on the youth system is a key factor behind their decision to sponsor the War Memorial Ground club.

Mr Concannon, who was in attendance alongside Mr Harker at the shirt unveiling, said he was impressed by the family spirit displayed by the club.

He added: “We Clean are immensely proud to sponsor Stourbridge Cricket Club, and days like this reinforce our belief that like ourselves.

“Stourbridge are a group who are striving to be the best within their area. It is great to give back to the local community and we wish them all the best in their upcoming season.”

Stourbridge CC made a good start to their 175th anniversary season with three wins from the first three games seeing them top of Birmingham League Division Three.
