CARERS Week 2017 is set to be supported with a range of awareness raising activities at a borough supermarket.

Taking place from Monday (June 12) to Sunday (June 18), the annual event is designed to highlight the challenges carers face, while also recognising the contribution they make to families and communities throughout the UK.

Sainsbury’s has supported Carers Week for the last seven years, and the shopping chain’s Amblecote store will hold a number of awareness activities throughout the week.

Kevin Healy, store manager, said: “Many of our customers and colleagues are carers and this is such an important event to inform people in the local community about the help and support that is available to them.

“We’re looking forward to inviting in a number of charities from the local area into our store to raise awareness.”

Cancer Support Dudley, Age UK Dudley, Spurgeons Young Carers Dudley, Alzheimer’s Society, Headway Black Country, Dudley Stroke Association, Dudley Carers Network and Dudley Telecare Service, will all be in the store to talk to customers and colleagues about the work they do.

The organisations will also share details of support that is available for carers in the local area.

A full list of dates and times of visiting organisations will be displayed on the store’s noticeboard, ahead of Carers Week.
