THOUSANDS of pounds worth of jewellery and electrical items were stolen in a burglary in Blakedown.

It happened on the A456 Birmingham Road, between 11.30am and 3.15pm yesterday.

The thieves are believed to have climbed over a locked side gate to get to the rear of the house and then got in through French doors, causing £300 damage.

Items stolen included a Samsung Galaxy Tab multi media tablet with charger and docking station, worth £350 and a further Samsung docking station, worth £50.

Ten Playstation games, worth £300 were also taken along with two Tiffany platinum matching gents and ladies rings, worth £800.

Also stolen was a Tiffany platinum engagement ring, worth £2,500, a pair of white gold earrings, worth £50, five pairs of white gold earrings worth £150 and a white gold necklace with a matching swirl design pendant and earrings, worth £90.

A platinum tanzanite pendant necklace with a zig zag design, worth £200, and various items of costume jewellery worth £200, were also among the stolen items.

PC Adrian Bartlett of West Mercia Police said: "The house is in the centre of the village, on the busy A456 Birmingham Road. The burglary happened during the day when there would have been passing traffic and people about and we hope someone may have noticed the offenders climbing over the side gate, or heard the sound of glass breaking."
