Caroline Jephcott , a local magistrate, and Les King from the Probation Service, were the guest speakers.
Their aim to show how these two agencies work together to improve public confidence in sentencing and raise awareness of the effectiveness of community penalties.

It proved to be a very interesting talk with opportunities for members to express opinion and ask questions.
This was followed by a quiz, compiled by June Homer, based upon tv police series.
The recent wine and cheese evening had had raised £59, while £50 had also been received from the village fete committee.
  Members were encouraged to submit their names for the Denman Bursary. The draw will be made in February. Judy Tromans won the bursary this year and gave a very interesting report of her course, 'Shopping with style'.

Other forthcoming events include: the Annual General Meeting to take place in Cardiff on June 1, an invitation to Bentley Pauncefoot WI to share a day of craft work, an art exhibition by Hagley Art Club, and a Christmas celebration of music at Symphony Hall in December.
