A BRIERLEY Hill bride-to-be has been left devastated after her chosen wedding venue closed suddenly.

The Mill Hotel, based in Aveley, near Kidderminster, has been shut amid financial concerns over owners Elysian Care Ltd and claims that staff have not been paid.

Scores of couples that had booked the venue for their big days have now been left in limbo.

Zoe Adams had paid a £500 deposit to secure the venue for her wedding to Lloyd Brewin on August 1 next year.

Her 85-year-old grandmother had also forked out £2,000 towards the overall cost of hiring The Mill.

The 34-year-old said: “We are devastated. The first we heard about it was a rumour on social media before family members had contacted us with the news.

“I went to the hotel last night and saw the poster that had been put up. I have sent messages on Facebook that have been read but so far not responded to."

A notice stuck on the door of the hotel reads: "Please note that due to unforeseen circumstances, The Mill Hotel is not open at the present moment. Please accept our sincere apologies for any inconvenience that this may cause. The Mill Hotel."

Miss Adams continued: “My nan is distraught and she has been on the phone crying. What do I say to her when she has used her savings to help pay for my wedding?

“What is totally soul-destroying is that we don’t know what is happening for definite and therefore don’t know what to do. We are furious that no one has spoken to us.

“They held a wedding fair last weekend and the Facebook page is still advertising events for Halloween and Christmas but the website has gone offline.”

Angry customers have been trying to contact The Mill and dozens of posts have been left on the hotel Facebook page but, to date, they have not received any responses A representative from The Mill was not available for comment.

The company also owns two care homes – The Homestead in Prestwood and Knoll House in Wolverhampton – that face an uncertain future, with residents being moved to alternative accommodation.
