A FOUR-year-old Withymoor girl will pull on her running shoes to raise cash in memory of her aunt.

Daisy Allen has already raked in £600 ahead of her racing debut at the Mini Great Run in Birmingham on Sunday (October 19).

The youngster, of Conifer Close, Withymoor Village, will pound the pavement for 1.5km alongside mum Emma, aged 35.

Funds raised by the tot will go to Cancer Research as her aunt, Katherine Bones, lost her short battle with liver cancer in August this year.

Daisy will be following in the footsteps of her sporty father Matt, aged 38, who completed this year's London marathon.

He said: "She has asked to join me on runs many times so we asked her if she would like to run at Birmingham and raise money to help people who were poorly like auntie Katherine.

"She was excited to do so and knows how much she has raised so far and that it will help people. She also knows that she has raised an incredible amount of money for a four-year-old."

The Withymoor Primary School pupil has been busy preparing for the event with a few training runs and said she was "very excited" about the challenge ahead.

Mr Allen added: "We are incredibly proud of her. It has been a difficult few months for our family but Daisy's training exploits and determination have lifted people's spirits.

"Katherine would have been her biggest supporter and would most certainly have been there cheering her on as she crossed the finish line."
