THE leading acts in a variety evening of music and drama are promising to 'Shine' for the Mayor of Dudley’s charities.

Shine will showcase a number of local acts, featuring people with learning disabilities, who will take to the Brierley Hill Civic Hall stage on February 24.

Highlights of the evening, which runs from 7pm to 9.30pm, will involve individual performances of dance, music and poetry renditions, as well as pieces by theatre groups, including Dance Unity, Side by Side Theatre Company and Kaleidoscope Theatre Group.

The show’s finale will be a sing-a-long medley with all performers and audience members, finishing with a performance of the Take That hit ‘Shine’.

Proceeds from the evening will be donated to the two mayoral charities, Guide Dogs and Action Heart.

Mayor of Dudley, Councillor Margaret Aston, said: “I would like to thank all of the groups and volunteers who are helping with the evening. I am looking forward to a show that people of all ages will be able to enjoy.

“As spaces are limited I would urge people to book their tickets well in advance, as Shine sold out when it took place in 2013.”

Door open at 6.15pm and tickets, costing £5, can be booked by calling the box office on 01384 812812, in person at Dudley Council Plus, in Castle Street, Dudley, or online at www.dudley.gov.uk/entertainment
