TWO of the borough’s Sainsbury’s stores are in search of a new charity which they can support.

The supermarket giant’s Local Charity of the Year scheme is returning for the seventh year and its Merry Hill and Amblecote stores are looking for local good causes to back.

A long list of local charities - which benefit the community - will be put together once the deadline passes for suggestions.

Customers will then be given the chance to vote for one of the charities, with the winner receiving help from the store to fundraise and raise awareness throughout the next year.

Sarah Percox, store manager of Sainsbury’s Merry Hill said: “We know there are so many great charities in the local area and we’re really excited about providing a boost to one of these over the next year.”

The scheme has raised £7 million since it began six years ago and has helped thousands of charities across the country.

To nominate a local charity contact the customer service desk at either of the two stores before Monday, May 11.

Voting will then open for customers to select their favourite cause, between June 15 and 28, in store or online at www.sainsburyslocalcharity.co.uk
