STAFF at a Brierley Hill law firm will be taking to the second city’s streets next week as they raise money for local advice services.

The Birmingham Legal Walk on Monday, May 11, will see colleagues from Higgs & Sons’ take on a 10km leisurely stroll alongside other members of the region’s legal sector.

Hundreds of participants will be raising funds for the Midland Legal Support Trust, an organisation which funds law centres and advice services in and around the midlands Mark Parsons, organiser of the Higgs & Sons team, said: “The Midland Legal Support Trust does vital work supporting advice centres and legal centres throughout the region.

“The recession not only increased poverty but hit support services extremely hard.

“Funding for the advice sector has reduced over recent years, so in this, the 800th anniversary of the Magna Carta, it is more important than ever we help support those who seek to make justice available to all.”

The Higgs team of solicitors and support staff will be setting off on their 10k walk from 5.30pm.

Mr Parsons added: “It is also a lot of fun for those taking part. It is good to meet with colleagues from other firms and to see parts of Birmingham that you often take little notice of.

“We are all really looking forward to the challenge.”
