Brierley Hill prison officer accused of sending sexual text messages to an inmate
A PRISON officer from Brierley Hill accused of sending sexual text messages to an inmate in a Redditch jail has appeared before court.
Kathryn Downing, of Amblecote Road, went before Kidderminster Magistrates facing three charges of misconduct while working at HMP Hewell.
The first charge relates to the exchange of text messages of a sexual nature between 30-year-old Downing and an inmate.
She is also accused of disposing a mobile phone which belonged to a prison inmate.
The third charge is in relation to her acquiring and delivering DVDs to a prisoner without permission.
She did not enter a plea and the case was sent to Worcester Crown Court for an initial hearing on September 28.
