THE organisation responsible for commissioning health services across Dudley borough is inviting members of the public to attend its first primary care committee meeting.

In April, Dudley Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) took on responsibility for commissioning primary care services – the care provided by GP practices throughout the borough.

The CCG’s new Primary Care Commissioning Committee will be tasked in making collective decisions on the planning, developing, delivering, monitoring and managing the budget for GP services across Dudley, under delegated authority from NHS England.

The meeting – chaired by Steve Wellings, lay member Dudley CCG – will be held on Friday (July 17) between 1pm and 3pm, in room S005 at Brierley Hill Health and Social Care Centre, in Venture Way.

Paul Maubach, accountable officer for Dudley CCG, said: “This is an important development for Dudley CCG. It allows us to use our local knowledge to shape future developments and protect the resources being spent in Dudley for the benefit of local people.

“It also means that we can more easily connect up GP services with the other healthcare that we commission – to improve how services are delivered locally and improve the provision of care closer to home.

“We would like to encourage members of the public who are interested to get involved and attend our first meeting for Dudley.”
