A NEW coffee shop - said to offer "quirky" food - has opened inside a recently launched outdoor clothing and equipment store in Merry Hill, creating an extra 15 jobs.

The Ultimate Café is on the ground floor of the Ultimate Outdoors store, owned by JD Sports Fashion plc, which itself created 80 jobs when it opened in the 40,000 sq ft former Kiddicare site in May.

It is the second café of its kind nationally, set up in partnership with North West-based The Interesting Eating Company.

The first one, which opened a year ago in Ultimate Outdoors' Preston branch, proved a success.

The Interesting Eating Company describes its café food - including speciality pancakes and waffles, "grab and go" light bites, cakes and gluten free variations, and barista made hot drinks - as "quirky".

Nichola Lee, director of The Interesting Eating Company, said: “Following the success of the original Preston-based Ultimate Cafe that opened last year, it’s fantastic to have launched our second outlet."
