AN historic Brierley Hill church is celebrating its 250th anniversary next weekend.

St Michael's at the top of Bell Street South will be holding a special service on Sunday September 27 to mark the milestone occasion.

The Mayor and Mayoress of Dudley, Councillor Steve Waltho and his wife Jayne, and The Bishop of Dudley, Graham Usher, will be attending the event, starting at 3pm, which will include a performance by resident choir Colla Voce and which will be followed by a celebration tea.

Rev David Hoskin, rector of the Brierley Hill team, said: "The event will mark the historic past of the church.

"Many of the beautiful stained glass windows are linked to prominent figures of Brierley Hill’s past, whilst the St George’s Chapel commemorates the casualties of World War I and other conflicts.

"It will also be an opportunity to celebrate the ongoing life of the church with local choir Colla Voce singing and Tracie’s Gentle Exercise class will give a demonstration.

"All are invited to join the celebration on Sunday and to enjoy this fabulous grade II listed building."

Any groups or individuals interested in using the building for an event can contact Rev Hoskin on 01384 565480.
