A MAN who went into cardiac arrest after his car overturned in Brierley Hill was resuscitated at the scene.

The incident happened in Venture Way shortly after 12.30pm this afternoon (Wednesday).

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “When the first ambulance crew arrived the car was on its side, propped up by metal railings at the side of the road.

"The driver was quickly assessed and was found to be suffering a heart attack.

“Sadly his condition deteriorated and he went into cardiac arrest.

"The team of ambulance staff commenced advanced life support at the scene and administered five shocks to his heart using a defibrillator."

The team managed to restart his heart and he was taken to New Cross Hospital in Wolverhampton, where his condition is said to be critical.

A female front seat passenger, believed to be in her 50s, was checked over but did not need hospital treatment.
