MERRY Hill shopping centre gave Black Country bloggers, vloggers and media a sneak preview of the latest autumn trends last night (Monday) ahead of its big forthcoming fashion weekend.

The intu shopping mall will be hosting a Style Academy on Friday October 9 and Saturday October 10 to bring shoppers up to speed with must have styles of the season.

At Monday's preview, models showcased an array of autumn looks, which are dominated by a 1970s vibe and gothic glamour, from stores across the centre.

Wide brimmed hats, baggy knee high boots and suede fringing is all the rage - plus bold rusts, reds, gold and mustard colours - fashionistas were told.

Embellished collars featuring chainlink metal, chartreuse silk and studs are also back with a vengeance, as are flares, aviator sunglasses and animal prints.

The 90s grunge look has been given a glam makeover, folk prints and earthy colours are everywhere, bling is back and texture is huge this season - said Bromsgrove based personal stylist Emily Jayne Phillips.

Hair stylist April Roberts from Doc Barnett also hosted an autumn trend hair masterclass showcasing the messy plaits and soft and dreamy curls which are favourite this season over poker straight hair dos.

Fashion conscious shoppers can pick up more tips at the Style Academy event which kicks off at midday on Friday October 9.

The weekend will also include live blogging sessions, shabby chic furnishing workshops and fashion discounts galore.
