A WOMAN who may hold vital information about an attack on taxi driver Mohammed Ahmed in Brierley Hill is being traced by police.

Investigating officers said they urgently needs to speak to the woman who is believed to have seen the attack on Sunday February 28, which left Mr Ahmed, of Old Hill, with a fractured skull.

The assault took place around 9.30pm in Bell Street South, Brierley Hill, when the 60-year-old driver was attacked during a verbal altercation with people in another vehicle, resulting in him suffering the serious head injury.

Mr Ahmed remains in hospital in a stable condition.

Two men, aged 16 and 21, have been arrested in connection with the assault and are currently on police bail while further enquiries take place.

Detective sergeant Leighton Shingles said: “Enquires into the attack remain on-going. We urgently need to trace this woman who we believe witnessed the assault and screamed during the incident.

“We believe she may have been in the company of either one or two other men and we urge her to call us as soon as possible on 101.”

CCTV of the attack from the local area is also being examined by officers, as well as forensic checks on two vehicles which were seized.
