DUDLEY’S mayor and mayoress will put their best – and correct – foot forward as they practise their dance steps ahead of the upcoming charity ball.
The mayor’s annual event will take place on Friday (March 18) where thousands of pounds is expected to be raised for the five local mayoral charities.
As well as the dance, the winners of the mayor’s awards will also receive their hand-crafted glass prizes during the event evening.
But in preparation for the ball, which is a sell-out, Councillor Steve Waltho, Mayor of Dudley, and mayoress Jayne Waltho visited Harris School of Dance in Brierley Hill to finalise their foxtrot and rehearse their rumba ahead of the big night.
Jayne is already an accomplished dancer winning several national titles, and was on hand to keep her husband’s footwork in check.
Cllr Waltho said: “It was great to see everyone at the dance school and I picked up a few tips along the way.
“The mayor’s ball is always a fantastic occasion and I’m really looking forward to speaking to the wonderful people from the charities again and meeting the winners of our civic awards.”
The mayor’s five supported charities are The Hope Centre, The What? Centre, More Mascots Please, Leukaemia Unit Appeal Fund, Russells Hall and The West Midlands Lupus Group.
