EVERY football fan’s dream of gracing the hallowed Wembley turf is set to be fulfilled by a Brierley Hill man this weekend.

Andy Davies will take part in a special match in the build-up to the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy final between Barnsley and Oxford United on Sunday (April 3).

The 50-year-old was selected to be one of the managers in the special pre-game match during a random draw of Johnstone’s employees.

After previously managing amateur football teams across the Black Country, Andy said: “I’ve been to Wembley a number of times so you could say I’m a Wembley veteran.

“I was absolutely thrilled to find out I would be managing at our national stadium, I’ve had some experience as a manager so I know what headaches come with it.

“I’ve been fortunate enough to see my football team Birmingham City win a trophy here, but managing will be a totally different experience and I couldn’t be happier.”

Andy will take the helm of Stormshield Rangers as they battle against Covaplus County for the right to be crowned Johnstone’s Sixes winners.

Richard Mazurkiewicz, marketing manager for Johnstone’s Trade, added: “We’re delighted to be able to offer our dedicated staff this unique opportunity to play on the hallowed turf at Wembley, which is something even most professional footballers can only ever dream of.

“The Johnstone’s Sixes is always a really enjoyable part of the day with our staff both on and off the pitch getting into the spirit of things, creating some fantastic memories that will last a lifetime.”
