RESIDENTS of a Brierley Hill estate will be joining forces to rid their community of rubbish later this month.

The Chapel Street Tenants and Residents Association have organised a group of litter pickers to meet at Bricklin Court on Saturday April 16.

From 10am, the group will meet with their bags, high visibility jackets and litter pickers and set about spending about two hours tidying the area.

The association is asking other people living on the estate – of all ages – and those who can spare the time, to join in.

Alan Lunt, environmental strategic director, said: “Community litter picks are great as they bring the local residents together to work for the good of the whole estate, aiming to make it a better place to live and play in.

“Chapel Street TRA started in 2011 and they work tirelessly for residents living on the Brierley Hill estate. I think it is brilliant that volunteers give up their spare time to participate in such events as this community clean up.

“Dudley Council is a community council and such initiatives show how everyone can work together for the betterment of the locality and helps us to achieve one of our council priorities – to make Dudley a cleaner, greener and environmentally friendly borough.

“I urge anyone living on the estate to get involved both with this litter pick and the tenants and residents association.”

Equipment and gloves will be provided by the group for the litter pick, but organisers have said that no unaccompanied children will be allowed to take part.
