A VINTAGE and retro and emporium in Brierley Hill has been given the thumbs up from BBC’s Antiques Road Trip.

With less than 12 months of trading under their belts, The Emporium @ Brierley Hill received a visit from antiques experts Mark Stacey and Christina Trevanion as part of the Midlands leg of their programme’s tour.

The building hosts more than 30 traders over two floors with a tea room to sustain shoppers and browsers.

Owners Tony and Sharon said they are all too familiar with the initial reaction of the presenters and crew.

Sharon said: “Most first time visitors assume that the emporium is just what you see through the front window, but when they walk through to the back there’s usually a ‘wow’ moment.”

The layout of the stalls impressed the BBC crew so much that they asked if they could come back and record another episode next year.

One cameraman, who praised the ease of access to the products, said: “We usually end up squeezed into very small areas with the presenters having to climb over furniture to get to the bargains.”

As well as the items bought for the programme’s auction, both presenters and BBC crew also left with their own personal purchases.

The episode featuring Brierley Hill Emporium is due to be aired in January 2017.
