WEST Midlands Police have rewarded Dudley Council’s health and social care staff for their work in helping to support vulnerable people across the borough.
The council’s Dudley Telecare Service works closely in partnership with the police, supporting them to keep vulnerable and older people free from harm.
Recent initiatives include protecting people from bogus callers, support for victims of domestic violence and a scheme to keep people with dementia safe though the use of a 'Pebbell' tracker gadget.
The telecare service provides a swift solution to a range of potential problems through its innovative gadgets and devices, which are all linked to the 24-hour call centre.
The project attracted praise for its partnership and staff have received a Working in Partnership Award from the police at a special ceremony at Brierley Hill Civic Hall.
Councillor Qadar Zada, Dudley Council’s cabinet member for adult social care, said: “This award recognises the hard work all of our Dudley Telecare staff put into helping people live safer and more independent lives in their communities.
“The telecare service works very closely with West Midlands Police, actively supporting people who may be at risk from harm or exploitation.”
