BEREAVED relatives can remember their lost loved ones this Christmas by sponsoring a light and attending a carol service in Brierley Hill next month.
Brierley Hill and Kingswinford Rotary Club is once again holding its Tree of Light initiative - following last year’s successful event.
And the lights will be switched-on at a carol service at Brierley Hill Methodist Church, Bank Street, on Sunday December 6.
Rotary club president Richard Rogerson said: “It will be the second time that we have held an event such as this, and it will give people in the community a further opportunity to remember those they miss as Christmastime.”
Funds raised from last year’s event helped to pay for a day out at Drayton Manor Park for 60 kids with learning disabilities from schools across the borough.
Money also went towards creating a centenary garden at Brierley Hill Primary School - and to various methodist charities.
It costs £5 to sponsor a light in memory of a loved one - and as part of the sponsorship scheme, the names of lost relatives and friends will be displayed in the church throughout December.
The switch-on and carol service start at 6pm and afterwards tea/coffee and mince pies will be served.
Application forms to sponsor a light are available from Simon Head at Brierley Hill Methodist Church on 07985 182261, Elaine Panchal from Age Concern on 01384 265064 or Richard Rogerson on 07930 194093.
