MORE than 100 new jobs are being created with the opening of electronics retailer Best Buy at Merry Hill.

The store, which will be in a prime spot at one the gateways at the giant shopping complex, will showcase the latest technology, including visual and audio equipment, computing technology, entertainment devices, mobiles, appliances, music, movies and games.

A range of jobs are up for grabs for all ages and abilities, including department heads, sales assistants, cashiers, merchandising, administration and asset protection specialists.

Operations director for centre owners Westfield UK Bill Giouroukos said the signing up of the new store demonstrated the attraction of Merry Hill as a retail and leisure destination of regional significance.

He added: “We’re delighted that Best Buy has chosen Merry Hill. Footfall at the centre has risen approximately 10 per cent compared to last year since the opening of the £24m Eat Central foodcourt.

“Merry Hill's central location and prominence as a major UK retail destination makes it extremely attractive for retailers looking for the opportunity to grow their presence in the West Midlands and beyond.

The store is due to open next spring and Best Buy has already started recruiting. Interested applicants can apply for a job at the store at bestbuy.co.uk/careers.

Paul Antoniadis, chief executive officer of Best Buy branded operations, said he was looking forward to “welcoming enthusiastic and talented people” to join the business.”
