A CHARITY in Brierley Hill will be £4,000 better off when a supermarket pays out the proceeds of a year's fundraising work.

The Brierley Hill Project is based on South Street and helps the community on the Chapel Street estate through support for people in finding work, developing self worth and new skills through creative activities or volunteering.

The charity, which also runs children and parent groups, will collect £4,070 from Sainsbury's in Amblecote at a ceremony on Tuesday May 15.

John Cook, operations manager and trustee, from the Brierley Hill Project said: “We’re really grateful for the fantastic efforts of the colleagues and customers at Sainsbury’s Amblecote."

Sainsbury’s Amblecote manager, Vernon Dix, added: “Throughout the many fundraising activities that we’ve held, our customers have been the driving force in making our fundraising efforts so successful.

"The money we’ve raised is really going to help a local charity that’s close to many peoples' hearts in the Brierley Hill area.”

Sainsbury's customers are being invited to vote for another local charity to receive a year’s worth of fundraising and awareness support from the Amblecote store.

The deadline for nominations is on Wednesday May 23 and the store will unveil the winning charity in June.
