‘Tasty Buds, Luscious Leaves and Succulent Shoots’ was the intriguing title for Kim and Rob Hurst at the June meeting.

Do we eat them, cook them or just admire them? In fact, it was all three. Kim specialises on herbs and the range and quality was immense. Members hadn’t heard of or seen many of them before, while all the colours of the rainbow were displayed by leaves and stalks as well as flowers.

Members are all eagerly awaiting the publication of a cookbook by Kim and her daughter in the not-too-distant future.

Members will be ‘out and about’ with Jim Almond taking a look at ‘Wildlife in the Garden’ at the meeting on Wednesday, July 10.

Jim last visited the group a few years ago and gave a fascinating talk on digital photography. His high standard of quality pictures should enhance the content of his talk and make for another good evening.

It takes place at Chaddesley Corbett Village Hall, meeting at 7.30pm for coffee and chat before commencing at 8pm.

The annual summer club meeting on August 14 will be a visit to Pump Cottage. It follows Barry Knee’s talk about its creation at the meeting in May. Please contact Olive Mason on 01562 777451 if you want to join the group. A few places remain for the outing on August 29 to Hill Close Victorian Gardens and Ryton Gardens, both very interesting venues showing new and old innovations.
