A CHADDESLEY Corbett businesswoman has been short-listed for a national award recognising her work helping small businesses facing insolvency.

Kate Collyer, of Riverhorse Business Advisory Services, has been named as a finalist at the Insolvency and Rescue Awards in the Turnaround Practitioner of the Year category.

Mrs Collyer, 40, said: “My specialism is small owner managed businesses. I work closely with management to initially manage their cash crisis, develop their financial systems and focus their business strategies.

“I work to improve the quality of communication with key stakeholders such as bankers and HMRC. My goal for every new client is to achieve the best possible outcome for the business and its stakeholders.

“I am a realist and appreciate that there is not always a solvent solution but the key is to manage and control the process.”

The mother-of-two said that if she can help to turn businesses around at the grass roots level of the UK economy, there is hope for the economy as a whole.

Mrs Collyer added: “It’s a massive achievement. The other finalists are big guns. I’m delighted as it’s recognition for the work that I do.”

The Insolvency and Rescue Awards celebrates the achievements of firms and individuals in the industry and are judged by a panel of recognised industry experts including regulators and bankers.

Mrs Collyer will find out if she wins the award at a gala dinner in October.
