‘Perfume in the Garden’ was the topic for speaker Sue Russell at the August meeting.

The audience was introduced to plants that carried lovely perfumes to enjoy through the flowering season, with everyone making notes as to which one to look out for in the local garden centre, or better still swop cuttings with friends at the club.

This well-attended meeting was followed by the usual coffee break for discussion with the speaker who was available to answer any questions.

The plants-for-sale stall, all provided by members from their gardens, was once again very popular.

A record number of visitors attended the Flower Show, held in conjunction with the WI, on September 7.

The show, the highlight of the year for the club, was officially opened by Paul Timmins, a lifelong resident of Clent.

It was a bumper year for entries in all subjects, especially by the children, some of whom even entered in the adult section.

All products disappeared at a good rate in the auction of donated exhibits.

The support that Clent village gives this show every year is tremendous and much appreciated. It was agreed by all concerned that a great day was had by everyone.

The next meeting on Friday, September 27 will feature a winter hanging baskets demonstration by Dave Smith.

All are welcome.
