On March 28 Kim Hurst spoke about a true cottage garden illustrating this talk with lots of actual plants and some slides. She explained the true meaning of a cottage garden incorporated flowers, herbs, shrubs and vegetables into one garden instead of four different areas. The evening went well with lots of plants for sale by Kim and also by our own plant stall run by Marie.

In September at the flower show there will be a pelargonium competition to be judged on the day, small plug plants were sold to members requiring them, again by Marie, to raise in their own environments, eg; greenhouses, cold frames, or even in the house on window sills.

Bookings will be taken in the very near future for three evening visits, the first one on May 9 to Hill View Gardens, the second one on June 6 to “The Barton” at Martley and the third evening out has been arranged for June 24 to Hill Close Gardens at Warwick. No coach will be arranged for these visits, due to their close proximity to Clent, own transport is required, or book your seat in a friend’s car. The next meeting will be on April 25 when we go “Behind the scenes” A Chelsea Garden with Frank Hardy. There will be the usual tea/coffee interval giving members a chance to mingle and visit Marie’s Plant sale or just chat with friends. There is also the monthly competition to enter plants or vegetables grown in your own garden, this is proving popular, with a chance to question “what went wrong with mine” ?

All are welcome to the meetings, anyone interested in either joining or just visiting the club can get further details by visiting our website on clentgardeningclub.wordpress.
