A PEDMORE woman has raised £1,600 for charity in her attempt to gain the highest award in Girlguiding.

Victoria Forrest, aged 20, is currently working towards the Queen's Guide Award and one of the requirements is to complete a practical project for a chosen charity.

The 1st Pedmore Brownies leader picked Sunfield, a residential and special school based in Clent, as she was intrigued about the work it did and wanted to find out more.

During the last 12 months, she has organised cake sales, Christmas themed collections, raffles and completed an abseil down the highest tower in Europe - the National Lift Tower in Northampton, to raise funds for the charity.

The former Pedmore Technology College student has now presented Sunfield with the cash, which will help fund services and equipment for children and young people with complex learning needs.

Victoria said: "It’s been so much fun fundraising for Sunfield and having seen the wonderful work they do I will continue to get involved in the future."

Georgina Forrest, Sunfield's partnership development manager, added: "We’d like to thank Victoria, who has been a loyal and passionate supporter of ours and has not only raised a fantastic amount in donations but has helped raise awareness of our need for local support amongst her friends, family and contacts."
