STAFF at a residential special school in Clent are asking the community to take part in their summer fundraising campaign.

Sunfield, which supports children and young people who have complex learning and behavioural needs, are encouraging local people to hold a yellow themed event at home, work or school, between June 6 and 14, to celebrate Sunshine Week.

Funds raised will help the school purchase much needed items, such as sensory resources, musical and sporting equipment and new school vehicles, which will enhance the lives of the students.

Georgina Forrest, Sunfield’s partnership development manager, said: “By holding a yellow dress down day in the office, a yellow themed cake sale with a slice or lemon drizzle or two, or even a bright idea of your own, you can add sparkle to the lives of children with complex needs.”

A charity quiz night, hosted by volunteer fundraisers for Sunfield at Belbroughton Village Hall, has raised £300 for the school.

Sunfield’s Community Fundraising Group, made up of eight locally based members, will now put the money towards the Elm House Refurbishment Appeal – helping to fund the modernisation of a residential house.

Georgina added: “We’d like to thank our devoted volunteers for their time in organising the quiz and to thank all those that supported by entering a team.

“We’re always looking for extra volunteer helpers, so if you’d like to give something back to your local community then we’d love to hear from you.”
