FIVE people had to be taken to hospital late last night (September 2) when the car they were in hit a tree.

The driver of the car, a man in his late teens, was trapped in the vehicle for more than an hour after the crash, which occurred in Hagley Wood Lane, Clent.

He suffered a number of injuries, as did his passengers who were able to free themselves from the car, and all five individuals were taken to hospital.

An ambulance service spokesman said: “The driver, a man in his late teens, had been trapped for more than an hour and was freed from the car.

“There were three rear-seat passengers. A woman in her late teens had grazes and bruises, on scene treatments for which were refused by her, but she was taken to Russells Hall Hospital.

“Another woman in her late teens who had no obvious injuries, but had some hip pain was also taken to Russells Hall Hospital.

“And a man who had a suspected spinal injury and a cut to his head was also conveyed to Russells Hall Hospital after receiving treatment from ambulance crews at the scene.”
