A NEW programme which will allow young children across Stourbridge to safely explore and experiment with a wide range of materials, tools and ideas is being launched.

The Creation Station in Stourbridge and Halesowen is setting up the innovative ‘Create Club’ initiative for primary school children aged between five and 11.

Cradley Heath mum Claire Darnley, who runs the group along with the support of her team, will be leading the weekly, term-time programme for youngsters at local schools.

Claire said: “I am really excited about bringing the Creation Station’s ‘Create Club’ to the area. It’s a great opportunity for schools and parents to engage their children in creative activities.

“Our aim is to inspire children’s imaginations through our specially designed art and craft activities and products. Creating their own piece of art each week also helps develop a child’s thinking and creative skills.

“We have already launched a club at St James’s Primary School and are delighted to be starting a club at Pedmore Primary School after half term.”

Claire has appealed for other schools in the borough to launch a club, saying: “We provide all our own equipment, along with tried and tested tools and materials. All we need is a room to set the club up in and whilst parents pay for their child to attend there is no charge to the school.”

As well as launching the club in Stourbridge schools, Claire is also setting up a Saturday Create Club at Barnett Hill Garden Centre, in Clent, on November 7.

She added: “We are launching a six-week course and we’ll have some great Christmas crafts for the children to make and take home each week.”
