VISITORS to Hagley Hall can take a step back in time this Sunday with a sneak preview of the restoration work taking place at the historic park.

Although the park isn't officially scheduled to re-open until Spring 2016, many of its famous features have already been returned to their former 18th century splendour.

Now visitors can witness the progress taking place with a charity preview and raise money for youth homeless project St Basils at the same time.

In its heyday, Hagley Hall Park inspired writers and painters of the day and was also visited by at least two American presidents.

Now visitors will be able to take a stroll through the grounds, taking in the lake, deer park, rotunda, folly castle and gardens which entranced so many people of the romantic era.

The current Lord Cobham, Chris Lyttleton, said: "This park was originally designed to inspire the painters and poets of the 18th century and we were keen to restore the original features sensitively to restore the senses and emotions they were designed to evoke.

"We are incredibly excited that we will once again be able to supply a haven of peace and tranquillity in the heart of the Black Country to those who want it."
