A LITTLE piece of history has been buried in the grounds of a new Hagley housing development.

Children from Hagley Primary School and Councillor Caroline Spencer, chairman of Bromsgrove District Council, buried a selection of drawings, diaries, coins, as well as school stationery and ties, at McCarthy and Stone’s Sanderson Court build.

The house builders hope the time capsule will provide a snapshot of the children’s lives today for future generations.

Cllr Spencer said: “It was wonderful to be invited along to this event with the children. The time capsule will act as a glimpse into the past for whoever gets their hands on it years down the line!

“Events like this are great for future generations to see how we all used to live and prove to be not only fun but also educational.”

The time capsule was buried under a large tree at the front of the development, which is providing apartments aimed exclusively at the over 60s.

Robert Monkman, sales and marketing director for McCarthy and Stone West Midlands, said: “We’d like to thank the children and teachers at Hagley Primary School and Councillor Caroline Spencer for coming along and helping us put together this glimpse into present day life.

“The time capsule is a fitting tribute created by the children to keep an important part of local history alive, and will be there to be found and treasured by whoever comes across it in the future.”
