The Kingswinford Guild met in the Community Centre in the High Street on November 11.

After welcoming members, chairman Enid Fennell, welcomed two visitors Wendy Jarratt and Linda Trehern.

After completing the essential business, members were reminded that as the December meeting will be a Christmas luncheon and the weather in January may be inclement, they should be giving serious thought to the matter of next years committee. Following reading of the federation report, members were asked to volunteer to become part of the Federation team for the national quiz.

The selection will be made in the new year and the regional round will take place in Stourbridge.

Wednesday club, rambling group, scrabble group and luncheon club all revealed the extent of their activities until the beginning of 2014.

Sheila Watt thanked members for making final payments for the Christmas lunch at the Lodge and checked that all who needed lifts had received offers.

Joyce Major asked members to take away the cooking apples she had brought along which she could not find space for at home.

All were safely gathered in.

There was an extra raffle prize, beautiful chrysanthemums presented by Doreen Comley, which had been grown by her husband. Raffle prizes were won by Sally Fowler and Sheila Watts.

The speaker was George Hook who told us about his business of making products from Mother of Pearl.

This is something he obviously enjoys doing and he was very eloquent.

There was a brisk trade at the end as members made their purchases.

He was thanked by Enid Fennell and left happily carrying a bag of apples.

Potential new members or visitors are invited to join us at the community centre in Kingswinford at 7.30pm on January 13. Mr & Mrs Betts will talk about Witley Court and gardens.
