BEST-SELLING Black Country author Miranda Dickinson has promised her next offering will reacquaint fans with much-loved characters from her debut novel.

The popular romantic writer, who is celebrating success with her fifth read Take A Look At Me Now, has already finished her first draft for her sixth novel - which will revisit the setting of her very first book Fairytale of New York.

The as yet untitled next offering will see readers reunited with leading characters Rosie and Ed who fall in love while working together at Kowalski's florists in New York's Upper West Side.

The pair feature as supporting characters in next year's book, which sees Ed's brother Jake taking a shine to a mutual friend of the old gang when he moves back to New York after a spell in San Fransisco.

A host of supporting characters from Fairytale, which was published in 2009, also surface in the forthcoming read - which is due for release in November 2014.

Miranda said: "It’s an almost sequel – there are new characters but I'm back in New York and the back drop is Kowalski’s and Rosie and Ed.

"One of the things I’ve been asked more than anything is - what happened to Rosie and Ed? Fairytale is still people's favourite, which is lovely."

Fans, however, can rest assured the popular literary pair have a promising fictional future as Miranda has vowed not to sacrifice one or both in the name of drama.

She said: "I didn't want it to be like Bridget Jones and kill off Mark Darcy - and if you spend all that time bringing a couple together it seems a bit odd breaking them up."

The 40-year-old novelist, who is expecting her first child in March following her own fairytale wedding to Bob in 2012, added: "Everything people wanted to know about Rosie and Ed – they’ll get to see.

"Marnie is also pregnant – which is a case of art mirroring life.

"It's so lovely to go back to characters that you've written about before - and it feels the right time to go back now I’ve done five books."

As well as promoting her latest book Take A Look At Me Now and putting the finishing touches to the next - Miranda has also been busy mentoring future literary stars from the Black Country.

The author, who lived in Kingswinford and Stourbridge before moving to Lower Gornal, holds a writers group every month at The Village Hotel, Dudley, and also gives talks to aspiring authors at Black Country libraries.

She said: "There's so much literary talent everywhere I go. There are writers out there who are future best sellers in the Black Country - and the more they see people having success like SJ Watson and myself the more they are going to come out of the woodwork. I think there's going to be a flurry of writers who are going to get known."
