PLANS to determine the future of a Kingswinford care home will be scrutinised by councillors tonight (Tuesday).

Dudley Council is considering tenders from not-for-profit organisations such as charities or social enterprises to take over the running of New Bradley Hall – despite the protestations of campaigners who set up the New Bradley Hall Action Group.

The council’s adult, community and housing services scrutiny committee will discuss the proposals further at a meeting at Dudley Council House from 6pm.

Councillor Dave Branwood, Dudley’s cabinet member for adult and community service, said: “I welcome the opportunity to scrutinise the next steps and how things will be in the future."

The council has received more than a dozen expressions of interest in the home which cares for around 30 residents and employs around 40 members of staff.

Under the proposals put forward, existing residents will be able to remain at the home and permanent staff will have the opportunity to continue working for the new organisation – the council has pledged.

But the action group has concerns over how the council will safeguard the residents and staff who may be transferred to the new organisation.

People can keep up-to-date with the plans for the home via a dedicated web page which contains answers to public questions, legal documents and other information and which can be found at http://www.dudley.gov.uk/media/latest-news/new-bradley-hall
