KINGSWINFORD & Stourbridge Lions held its annual presentation evening at the Stourbridge Institute, where those organisations and groups who helped us to collect on our Santa Sleigh runs, were presented with donations towards their causes.

In addition, the group made donations to other organisations that have been selected for support.

We were joined this year by Councillor Patrick Harley (Kingswinford South) who helped present the cheques totalling £10,250 on the group’s behalf to 27 charities and good causes, including to Compton Hospice, the static collection at ALDI in Wollaston and Mary Stevens Hospice, which was received by Julie Bate of Sainsbury’s Ambelcote on their behalf.

The group was also pleased to present Susan Williams, from Breast Cancer Care, with a cheque from money raised at a Pink Pamper Evening held last October.

It was also an opportunity to present our Young Leaders in Service Silver awards to two guides, Kathryn Brammer and Paige Hill, in recognition of them each having given 50 hours of service to the local community in the last 12 months.

The last presentation was to the Ryemarket, where Kelley Dyas, the centre manager, accepted a K&S Lions-funded defibrillator unit, and the necessary training; the device will be positioned in the Ryemarket ready for use by trained personnel in cardiac emergencies.
