A 20-YEAR-OLD Kingswinford man who repeatedly punched, headbutted and kicked a man in a savage street attack has been hit with a four-month curfew.

Richard Halford had been given a ten-month custodial sentence suspended for two years for assault causing actual bodily harm.

He was further placed on Supervision and told to carry out 200 hours unpaid work in the community but he breached the order by failing to keep appointments.

Halford was brought back before Wolverhampton Crown Court and after admitting the breach Judge Martin Walsh revoked the unpaid work.

But he told Halford he must now obey a curfew between the hours of 7pm and 7am and warned him: “Come back before me with another breach and you will go into custody.”

James Bruce, prosecuting, said Halford “completely lost control” and he punched his victim four times to the head.

He then threw around 15 more punches as he straddled the man on the floor, headbutted him four times and then, after walking away, returned to punch and headbutt him again.

Halford, before the vicious attack, had downed eight bottles of strong beer and he left his victim with a damaged eye.

The judge told Halford, of Rowan Rise, a report prepared on him for the court made “bleak reading” and he added: “Your response to this order has been woeful.”

He said he had given serious consideration to sending him straight to custody but he had been persuaded to give him “one final chance".

Adrian Stephens, defending, said Halford was now motivated to put his life in order and move forward.
