TWO Kingswinford school pupils have chopped off their long locks and raised more than £1,000 for a children’s cancer charity.

Isabelle Burrows, 9, and eight-year-old Charlotte Silcox had lengths of hair cut off during a school assembly at Glynne Primary School recently.

The girls’ hair will be donated to the Little Princess Trust which provides real hair wigs – free of charge – to children throughout the UK that have lost their hair due to illness.

Amanda Burrows, Isabelle’s mother, said: “The girls held a fantastic assembly that captured the whole school as they said what they were doing and why they were doing it.

“You could've heard a pin drop when their plaits were being cut off, followed by an enormous cheer.

“The girls love their new looks. It really suits them as they are beautiful girls raising money for a wonderful charity.

“So far they have raised a whopping £1,028 and the donations keep coming in, which is wonderful news, and their hair has been packaged and sent away by recorded delivery.

“I want to say a big thank you to Nanny Pat and Nicky Osbourne who cut the girls hair and also to Mrs Cameron, headteacher at the school, for allowing them to hold the assembly.

“I also want to give a really big thank you to all of the Stourbridge News’ generous readers who have donated without knowing the girls.”

From the hair and money which has been donated due to the girls’ hair cut, the Little Princess Trust will nearly be able to make four wigs.
