A KINGSWINFORD school pupil is getting on her bike to help raise funds for children who suffered from the Nepal earthquake disaster in April.

Summerhill School student Meah Bentley, 12, will ride 20 miles from her house in Swindon, heading along the canal to Caunsal, before finishing at the Hinksford Arms pub.

She will be joined by family members, including seven-year-old brother Farran, to take on the challenge this Sunday (June 21).

Meah’s mother Jaime said: “My daughter Meah wanted to help the other children who had been affected by the earthquake in Nepal.

“We knew the Hinksford Pub in Swindon was doing its own bike ride, but we decided to do our own as a family.

“We have already raised about £400 for the cause and we hope to raise even more.”

The money will go towards Save the Children’s Nepal Earthquake Appeal, which is helping to provide the basic life needs to injured and homeless children in the South Asian country.

Swindon’s Hinksford Arms will also be holding a charity bike ride for the cause on Saturday, June 27 starting at 10am.

The 20-mile route, which participants can ride in fancy dress, will start in Stourport and finish at the pub, in time for its family fun day, which begins at 1pm.

A bouncy castle, fundraising stalls, raffle, auction and Nepalese food will all be part of the pub’s charity day.
