THE younger and older generations were brought together as part of a Kingswinford school’s Black Country Festival celebrations.

Crestwood School pupils, and Black Country School Champions, Alix Hooper and Tom Churchman held a tea party at the Bromley Lane school and invited 12 guests from the local Age UK group.

As part of the party, guests were given the opportunity to talk about their local and Black Country history to the students.

Sam Carroll-Grigg, assistant headteacher, said: “The guests had a great time and our students really enjoyed talking to them about our local history.

“Four of our students, Thomas Withers, Harriet Mazur, Isabella Marsh and Ellie Hartill, sang and played their guitars excellently.

“Our guests loved this so much that they requested an encore and neither the students nor the guests wanted the afternoon to end.

“We are proud of Alix and Tom, who are amongst the first School Champions to be appointed in the borough and have come up with some brilliant ideas to support the Black Country Festival.”

Julie Sandall, from Age UK Good Neighbour Scheme, thanked the school for inviting the 12 members to the party.

She said: “Thank you so much. Everyone enjoyed themselves so much at the school. The students were wonderful and it was a great treat for our clients.”
