VOLUNTEERS from across the borough are coming together to host a family fun day at Dudley Kingswinford RFC in aid of Whizz-Kidz.

Stallholders will be raising money for local disabled children at their families at the Swindon Road ground this Sunday (September 13), between 2pm and 5.30pm.

Lauren Bird, a member of the organising committee, said: “We are hoping this will become an annual event that local families will attend and enjoy.

“We have an array of fun activities from competitions and games with hook-a-duck, bouncy castles and face painting, to stalls of toys, books and gifts and of course not forgetting the food and treats.

“I am sure that we have something for all.”

Money raised from the fun day will go towards helping change the lives of local disabled children, by providing customised mobility equipment, wheelchair skills training, as well as specialist advice and life skills.

Whizz-Kidz provides services to help give disabled children and young people their independence and the chance to enjoy a more active childhood.

Vicki Rowles, Whizz-Kidz’s senior regional fundraising manager, said: “This event is looking set to be a real success. Whizz-Kidz is very grateful for all of the hard work and support that our volunteers have put in to make this a great event.

“Within the West Midlands we currently have in excess of 80 disabled children waiting for the right piece of mobility equipment to enable them to enjoy life and be more independent. So community support is vital to help raise not only funds but also awareness.”

As part of the day, Brierley-Hill based firm Bubbletactics will be on site hosting a bubble football tournament, with teams of five entering to compete for the winner’s trophy.
