Kingswinford Townswomen's Guild

In December ,there was no formal monthly meeting for Kingswinford Townswomen’s’ Guild . Instead ,the members met for a sumptuous festive lunch at the Lodge in Dudley.

Food featured promptly in early January , when those members of the Luncheon Club who were not completely sated, met for lunch and to catch up on the news.

On January 11, the regulars actives resumed when we were welcomed by chairman Enid Fennell ,who wisher us a Happy New year. This was followed by an entertaining evening of song and readings performed by Liz and Brian Dickenson. This was greatly enjoyed and they were thanked on our behalf by Kath Turner.

However, before this jollity, there was business to be dealt with. Following the reading and signing of the minutes ,it was announced that collection instead of Christmas cards had raised £60 .It was unanimously decided to add our small charity account to this and send it to a Cumbrian flood relief charity .This seemed particularly suitable as some of it may reach other townswomen.

The flowers to enhance the room were provided by Josie Smith who donated them as extra raffle prizes. The raffle prizes were won by Sally Fowler, Wendy Iley and Chris Moy. Ena and Wendy volunteered to wash up the tea cups.

The various sections announced their forthcoming events , which strangely involved more food , with the ramblers having their Annual Lunch and the Wednesday club looking forward to a fish and chip supper.

Members were asked to consider joining the committee as there are currently members who have other commitments which are causing difficulties.

Next month the speaker will be Mary Bodfish who will explain why “You can’t abdicate and eat it.”
