FORMER players of Wordsley Wasps are being invited to take part in the football club’s 20th anniversary reunion match.

Players and parents who were part of the club between 1997 and 2004 are meeting up at Sixes Football Centre, in Ham Lane, Kingswinford, to celebrate two decades since its formation.

Clive Corbett, whose son Tom was part of the team, is rounding up the squad from 2pm on Sunday, May 14, for an hour’s game, followed by drinks in the bar.

The team’s coach said: “At around this time 20 years ago, Steve Bradbury, Steve Ingram and Dave Jones called a meeting at the Woodman in Mount Pleasant to announce the setting up of an Under 10s Wordsley Wasps football team from August 1997.

“Although my son Tom was one of the founder team members, I only came on board as coach a year later.

“But to mark the 20th anniversary, I am organising a get together, including a kick about for anyone who played for the Wasps team between 1997 and 2004.

“Parents and friends who wish to catch up and share memories are obviously very much welcome too.”
