The May meeting was a demonstration by Jane Fox entitled ‘Happiness Is’ during which she gave us an insight as to what makes her happy.

Her first arrangement brought back memories of her childhood and walks along an old railway line which she interpreted with two framed arrangements using yellow and green foliage and green Anastasia chrysanthemums and carnations.

The second memory was of an old wartime Lancaster bomber called ‘Just Jane’ that had been rescued and rebuilt.

She began with a tin box which was her plane and then inserted two large silver coloured spathes which were her propellers.

To give the appearance of flying the arrangement was made in blue and white for the sky and clouds. The flowers used were deep blue iris and white Avalanche roses.

The seaside was next with a container covered with pebbles and a piece of driftwood across the front.

To convey the sunny days she used a spray of cymbidium orchids, small headed sunflowers and yellow roses together with bluey grey foliage.

To interpret a tropical island Jane used a large piece of driftwood from which she hung red amaranthus, cerise lilies and two tone pink and white roses.

To complement the flowers she used dark red and black dracena leaves.

A sunset on a mountainside was her next arrangement.

This was made with dried dogwood twigs for the sun’s rays and dark foliage to portray the evening against which she used bright orange gladioli, tangerine lilies and peach roses.

Her final exhibit was ‘Happiness is’.

This was produced of two hearts made of twigs which she inserted on a small metal frame and naturally used deep red carnations, deep red roses and two red anthuriums.

The vote of thanks was given by Lynn Green and after the raffle nine lucky ladies went home with beautiful arrangements.
