KINVER good causes were given an early Christmas present when they received grants from the village's 2014 Country Fayre.

More than £12,000 has been distributed to village charities, clubs and organisations as a result of money raised through this year's fayre.

In total, 36 different organisations stood to benefit, with the grants going to a wide range of causes.

They included buying equipment for scouts, guides and brownie groups, helping wildlife, the arts, churches, sports and village schools.

Grants also went towards supporting new cycling and fitness groups in Kinver and providing a Christmas lunch for senior citizens.

Jane Sadler, chairman of Kinver Country Fayre, said: "This year's event was so successful that we've been able to help a wide cross section of the community.

"We would like to thank everyone who attended the fayre because the money they spend is used by our charity to benefit these good causes."
