POPULAR Kinver Fitness Collective has been handed another welcome boost by being awarded £1,500 from Staffordshire Police and Crime Commissioner Matthew Ellis's People Power Fund.

The money will be used by the Collective to help village youngsters become more physically active and involved in community activities.

The cash is part of a half million pound fund which Mr Ellis plans to put back into local communities.

He praised the collective's work, saying: "Projects like this are great for engaging young people. It's so important to engage with young people which means we can intervene early to tackle problems of anti-social behaviour."

Sally Harris, who helped spearhead the collective, said: "The Collective has really taken off and inspired Kinver residents to get out and exercise.

"We recently held a challenge where nearly 1,000 school pupils took part and we hope to continue encouraging young people to keep being active."

The next round of applications for People Power Funding opens this Sunday (March 1), but applications need to be sponsored by the group's local neighbourhood police officer or community support officer.
