Kinver WI
The ladies joined together in February to listen to a history of women in the glass industry, Dr. Kate Round explained that the women involved were often ignored as being secondary to male workers and often referred to only by their initials which made it difficult to track their careers from records that had been kept. The one good pointer of course was the difference in wages, no surprise there, in one case a lady trainer in glass decoration was paid less than the male students that she taught. They obviously needed the might of the WI behind them!
Our own ladies gave a lesson on the handling of glassware on the following Wednesday as they drank a toast to friends past and present at their post Christmas dinner, to see them all visit us at www.kinvervillagewi.co.uk
They have also been very busy knitting egg cosies, various, to raise funds for a local appeal-- Fighting Childhood Cancer in Kinver, these will grace eggs and eggcups and be sold in our local school.
